The Baroque Glass Exhibition area - Nailsworth Gloucestershire

Baroque Glass loves putting on exhibitions. The gallery is a glorious, south facing space; light, white and airy. We hang pictures on walls, in front of mirrors (which gives the panel a 3D effect), and put bowls and mouth blown objects on mirrored table tops so that visitors can see in, around and under each and every object.

Last year we held 6 exhibitions (4 solo) with Matt Walsh, Amanda Lawrence, Amanda Moriarty, John Playfoot, plus a shared engraving exhibition with Amanda Lawrence, Jan Studerus and Patricia Hilton Robinson and a student exhibition for non-professional glass artists around Gloucestershire.

This year 2008 we have planned another exhibition for Matt Walsh, and for Amanda Lawrence as well as an exhibition of enamelled glass on copper by Scottish artist Lewis Banks.

This year’s student exhibition will be slightly different from 2007. Non professional students of all ages, from all over Gloucestershire are invited to apply to have their work displayed. The exhibition will continue for a month and there will be 2 prizes – one selected by the judges to be the ‘overall winner and the other for the ‘best use of glass and colour ‘. There is no fee to enter but students will be asked to leave their work in the gallery for a month. Entrance to the gallery will be £2 (free to children). Opening times will be Tuesday-Friday 9.30am-5pm and Saturday 10am-2.pm.

There is no age limit to the student exhibition and just to give you some idea – last year’s students ranged in age from 5 to 75 and we have something like 75 pieces in the gallery.

If you would like to participate, whether you work at home on your own, or you attend a class and live in Gloucestershire, then please contact us for further details.
